Dear Folks at Hylton Ross,
Wow! I've finally recovered enough from my wonderful O.A.T. trip to Southern Africa (and the fact that I had to plunge straight back into my job!) to direct my mind to sending along praise where praise is definitely due. I was a member of the group which Dion Fabe hosted in Cape Town and environs from October 1-5, and I want (somewhat belatedly, but definitely sincerely and enthusiastically) to tell you how much Dion's gift of himself to all seven of us contributed to the perfect closing of a wonder-filled trip.
From the moment he met our flight late on Monday, October 1, he took special care of all of our needs, handling everything with grace, competence, AND great good humor (including the immensely long giraffe carving which a couple of our group members were dragging along from Zimbabwe!). Dion got us to Bantry Bay Suites quickly, while helping us get oriented with his descriptions and comments along the way. The next day, when the weather was very briefly right, he got us up to the top of Cable Mountain at top speed to be sure that we WOULD be able to enjoy this most spectacular "excursion" before it became impossible. The views were amazing, and once down from the mountain we all witnessed the speed with which conditions changed and were extra-glad that we'd had the opportunity to go up.
I won't go through all of the specifics of our tour, as the destinations were pretty standard for Cape Town (Kirstenbosch, a diamond cutting display, Robben Island, Cape Point, and Stellenbosch. What is important for you to know is that Dion's amazing hospitality, efficiency, knowledge about his country, and good humor were even better experiences for all of us than the actual wonders of your city. He managed to form individualized relationships with all of us, catering to our particular needs while caring for the group as a whole. As a sometimes tour escort myself,(with groups of 35-55 middle-aged students traveling to both Greece and Hawaii) I feel especially qualified to comment on Dion's work. His performance at all times was stellar!
Thank you so much for letting Dion make our visit to Cape Town exceptional and delightful. I hope to have the opportunity to return to Cape Town in the next few years, and you can be sure that I will be working with Hylton Ross. I HOPE Dion Fabe will be available to make my next visit equally special.
Sincerely,
Dorinda Carr |

Brett and I would like to say a huge thank you to you and Wilmot for organising such a great time for us whilst we visited Cape Town (21-25 August). Wilmot was at Cape Grace Hotel before 11 on the Tuesday and drove us in the beautiful, clean Mercedes around Cape Town and up to Table Mountain. He was very prompt, polite, friendly and talked about the surrounding area and sites fully. We felt very safe and had lots of fun.
Over the next two days we went to Cape of Good Hope/Cape Point and then the Stellenbosch winery district. Both days were full of things to see and do and Wilmot was very capable of showing us everything (including things that I would presume only a local would know and see - that a visitor would probably miss if on their own). He was excellent on the history of the area too.
Another point we would like to make is that Wilmot went out of his way to help another visitor in our tour group, whom arrived at Cape Grace on the Monday from Victoria Falls without her luggage. He tracked down the bag for her and we were all very appreciative of his work.
We would have to say that after our experience in Cape Town, we felt the rest of our trip - which included the Rovos Rail, Sun City and Sabi Sabi would have to be extra special to out do Cape Town and Wilmot. We came home thinking that Cape Town was the most fun and interesting....although the lions in the wild was pretty special! We enjoyed South Africa very much.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you wish.
Kind regards
Jodie Barton
PS Also I sat next to Fabian at dinner one night at the Africa Cafe. He drove the group to dinner in the coach. He also was very polite and friendly and is also a credit to Hylton Ross. |

Hi there! Just to
say I really enjoyed the three day tours I
did
recently, 25th to 27th October. Special
thanks to Steven, from Taiwan doing a Politics
PhD, an excellent
tour guide! Give him a promotion! Ask him
to keep in touch to let me know
how he's doing.
Hope
to return to Cape Town sometime, meanwhile
I would recommend your
company to any friends who visit.
Cheers, Aidan

We have recently
returned from a family holiday in Cape Town.
During our stay we were lucky enough to go
on three private tours with your
company. Jason and Dion were the two guides
on our trips to the Winelands,
Cape Point and Cape L'Agulhas. We would like
to extend our thanks to them
both for an informative and entertaining three
days. Not only were they very
knowledgeable, but also kind enough to help
in a family wish to see a close
relative's grave for the first time in over
45 years. On this occasion Dion
was both patient and understanding making
this unusual detour on our day in
the Winelands. Jason's recommendations for
exploring Cape Point and its
wildlife and fauna were "smashing"!!
Please pass on our heartfelt thanks and
appreciation to them both. We will be recommending
your company to anyone
who may visit Cape Town. Best
wishes,

I have just returned
to the UK from a rugby tour of South Africa
with a group of 47. We were looked after by
Hentie and Aman on our travels
across South Africa. They were absolutely
outstanding and a credit to your
company. Nothing was too much trouble for
them and they made sure our time
in South Africa was brilliant. Can you pass
on to them my deepest thanks and
appreciation.
With sincere thanks.

Hello there from
bonnie Scotland! I have just returned from
a
school hockey tour in Cape Town and I just
wanted to say a huge
THANK YOU to Ian Wallace who was our tour
guide/bus driver/sole cheerleader! We all
believe that without Ian the tour wouldn't
have been anywhere near as fantastic as it
was and without his vocal support at matches
we wouldn't have left Cape Town unbeaten (YAY!)
Also just wanted to add a couple of things:
1. Happy
Birthday Ian from Milly, Molly and the squad!
2. The day we left Cape
Town I finally felt that sense of acheivement
from
climbing Table Mountain and when we were
in Durban I actually wished I was
climbing it again! Honestly!
3.Ian, don't forget to
scan and e-mail a photo of your, ahem, present
(!) to
the school.
4.1488 - Dias circumnavigates
Cape of Good Hope, followed by Vasco da
Gama -
see we were listening.
5.There's a spare skirt
somewhere which is available for use in
the post of
male hockey cheerleader here which i believe
is being held for you if you
ever feel like a change of scenery (and
climate)! Eli's idea by the way!
Lastly I'd also like to
thank Hylton Ross for the tour bus which
was
great. On arrival in Durban we were greeted
with a huge coach which was
universally agreed to be far inferior to
the cosy 19 seater we had in Cape
Town.
So basically thank
you Ian and Hylton Ross for one of the best
experiences
of my life. No doubt I'll be back soon enough
- Cape Town has found a
special corner in my heart!

My wife and I recently
went on 4 different tours with your company
and would like to commend your company on
your service. As to your guides,
there were excellent. They made the trips
very enjoyable and they are very
knowledgable with their facts. A special thanks
to John and Jason (aka "the
bald man") - you guys were fantastic.
Highly recommend tours with these
guys. Jason is absolutely hillarious - such
a riot. I'm getting anyone who
visits CT to ask for him by name!! Kindly
forward my email address to both
John and Jason. We
both had a wonderful time in CT - you've
got a beautiful city.
Best Regards
Gouri and Arul (Malaysia)
